James 4:7   Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Submit, Resist, Draw, all of these are action words. Why is it that James puts all of these together in the same scripture!! That is a lot to do all at one time!!
This is something the church has a hard time doing...we do not like submitting our will to God. Most of us do not like to be told what to do by anyone, especially a God that we cannot see, feel or touch!! Especially a God that we are not quite sure we believe in!!
So, if we do not want to submit to God our lives, our thoughts, our actions then how will we Resist the Devil?? How will we know what is right or wrong in the sight of a Mighty God?? Sin will then become okay. Lying, cheating, rebellion, murder, sexual sin will become our normal way of living.
The only way to resist the devil is to submit all that you are to God!! Everything!! The good the bad and the ugly, EVERYTHING!!
Once we submit and resist...the devil will flee from us!! The devil cannot stand against GOD!! He cannot stand against the submitting of your life to God!! He loses his power over you because you have given up your old and selfish ways!!
Then once the old devil is gone...then we can draw near to God and guess what??? God will draw near to us!! Yes! The sin that Jesus Christ paid with His life to free us from is gone!! We have the right because of Jesus to SUBMIT OURSELVES TO GOD...RESIST THE DEVIL...AND DRAW NEAR TO GOD!
Then the barrier of sin is demolished!! We can begin having a relationship with our Father in Heaven! Revelation 21:7 says, The one who conquers will have this heritage and I will be their God and they will be My people!!
To conquer the devil, death and sin we must learn the strategies of war...Submit, Resist and Draw near...this is how we become more than conquerors through Christ Jesus our Lord!!
Dear church, submit yourselves to God, learn to resist the tactics of the evil one and then draw near to a Risen and Mighty Lord and get ready for Him to draw near to you!! This is the promise of LIFE AND LIFE ABUNDANT  in John 10:10. IT TRULY IS THE ONLY WAY TO LIVE!!!

Mark 4:35-40 On that day, when evening had come, Jesus said to them, " Let us go across to the other side." And leaving the crowd, they took Him with them to the boat, just as He was. And other boats were with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling but Jesus was in the stern on the cushion, and they woke Him and said to Him, " Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing??"   And Jesus awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, PEACE BE STILL!  And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith??" And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, " who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"

Sometimes the storms of life rage, sometimes it seems the wind and the waves will surely overtake us!! Our boat is taking on water and we truly believe we will not survive!!  That is exactly what the devil wants us to think!! As you see what happened in this story most of the time the storms come up suddenly!! When we just want to get a little rest, when we have plans to go and do something we want to do! Storms can blindside us, take us by surprise and often times we panic and forget Who we serve and Who we belong to!!
It is so interesting that Jesus was actually sleeping while the water was coming into the boat!! It must have been some storm!! He was the calm in the storm!! The picture Mark gives us is a reminder that even when the storms rage in our lives that all the while Jesus is in the boat with us...He is the One Who calms the storms within us and gives us peace!!
I would encourage everyone today who is going through a storm to look to Jesus. He is the only way we can live without fear when they come. Tests and trials will come, but Jesus says He will never leave us nor forsake us!
Jesus asked His disciples why they were so afraid. I believe that they still did not truly understand who Jesus was. They had followed Jesus, listened to His teaching, saw His mighty miracles but still did not have faith in Who He was!!
Jesus was teaching them; He was showing them WHO HE WAS!! That even the winds and the waves obey Him!!
Remember this valuable truth church!! JESUS IS LORD OF ALL!! HE IS THE KING OF ALL KINGS especially in your storms!! He is the "PEACE BE STILL" in our lives and He will guard and keep us all of our days!!
When storms come, look to the One who calms the storms...He will never let you down!! Trust His grace, trust His power and trust His love in all circumstances of our lives. Then and only then can we live without fear of what will come...and our faith will flourish in the knowledge of our RISEN Lord!!
Peace Be Still!! Pastor Karen

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

As I watch my little grandchildren play and laugh and giggle and as I watch them learn and grow, my heart feels full within me. I know that the innocence they have right now will not last very long and I pray for their protection every day.
Children have their own way of speaking, thinking and reasoning. They are not aware of their surroundings; they do not have a concept of danger yet and they do not have much discernment of right and wrong. How do they learn these things??
Children watch us! That is how they learn how to speak like an adult, that is how they learn how think more maturely and that is how they learn to reason things out...to discern what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is evil.
If the adults they are around never grow up, never mature...there is a good chance they will not either.
There is a great responsibility that comes with raising children and one of those responsibilities is to get them ready for adulthood, physically and emotionally.  One of the problems we have today is that many parents of children still act like children themselves. We have moms that still want to look and act like teenagers, we have dads that still want to go out with their drinking buddies while the wife and kids are at home. We have many parents who never tell their children about Jesus, never take them to church, never give them the foundation that will hold them in this crazy mixed-up world!
I believe there will be a great accountability to the Lord for how we raise our children...they are gifts we have been given and it is serious business when we neglect to give them the spiritual teaching they so desperately need.
How about your household?? How about your children?? Are you teaching them about a risen Lord who came to set them free?? Who came to give them eternal life with Him if only they believe??  Do you teach them that a personal relationship with Jesus is the most precious thing you could ever give them??
Until we grow up in the church, until we lay aside childish things in the church, until we learn to speak, live and love like Christ in the church, it will be very hard to teach our children. They learn from us...they mimic us...they watch every move we make, and they hear every word we say!!
This is a wakeup call to parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles...give up your childish ways and GROW UP IN CHRIST!!  Teach your children the ways of Christ!! Live Christ before them!! Speak with the love and authority of Christ so they can grow up prepared for the battles in their lives!!
Jesus the Christ will be coming soon, are you ready?? Are your children ready?? I pray so...
Blessings, Pastor Karen

Proverbs 4: 25-27    Let your eyes look directly forward and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil!

How many times have we taken our eyes off of Jesus?? How many times have we swerved off the path that He has laid out for us. How many times have we turned our foot towards evil and not away from evil??
Remember Peter in the boat? He and the disciples had gone on ahead of Jesus. Jesus told them He would catch up with them and boy did He ever!! Here comes Jesus walking on the water! At first, they screamed in fear until they recognized Him and then guess what?? Peter jumps out of the boat and starts walking towards Jesus on the water!! How amazing!! Just keep going Peter!! Just keep Your eyes on the One who can save you from the wind and the waves...just keep walking!!
One glance at the waves, one doubt and Peter began to sink!! How important is it to keep our eyes on Jesus??? How important is it to only look to Him for our help?? As Peter began to sink...our marvelous, wonderful Savior reached out His Almighty hand and grabbed hold of Peter and walked with him back to the boat.
Our Lord, our Jesus, warns us to not look to the right or the left, but to keep our eyes on Him, because He knows what happens when we look around at all the turmoil, all the chaos, all the tests and trials that come our way! He knows we will start to sink! He knows we will become discouraged; we will become depressed which leads to despair and then satan will move in and try to destroy us!
This path of righteousness that our Lord wants us to stay on is imperative if we want to live life and life abundantly! We must think about each and every step we take...we must ponder each step and ask ourselves is this for good or is this for evil?? We must ask ourselves how will this affect our life and the lives of everyone around me and how will this affect my testimony to others??
Ther is an old hymn that says "Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.
Dear believers in the Almighty risen Lord, keep your eyes on Jesus!! It is the only way we will live a victorious life!! A life that glows with the love, the peace and the joy of Christ!! Then and only then will we be more than conquerors, then and only then will we walk with sure footing in this crazy mixed up and evil world, then and only then will people see the difference that Jesus the Christ can make in their lives!
Keep walking church...keep your eyes on the One who can teach us how to walk on water!!
Blessings, Pastor Karen

Habakkuk 3:17-19  Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor the fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls...yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; He makes my feet like the deer's; He makes me tread on high places.
How many of us love and serve God when the times are good?? It is so easy then! But what about when the times get hard?? What about the times when prayers are not answered the way we want them to be, what about the times when we lose what we have worked so hard for, what about the times we cannot seem to hear God's voice??
The prophet Habakkuk did not love and serve God for what He could give him. He loved and served God because he had a personal relationship with Him. He knew Him and that made all the difference. Even when everything seemed to be going wrong Habakkuk rejoiced in the Lord, he gave Him honor and praise just because He was God!!
Jesus tells us there will be tests and trials, there will be days when we feel hopeless and afraid but if we cling to Him, we will come through and we will learn to overcome!!
One of the first things we must do is to seek with our whole heart Christ and His Kingdom, a personal and deep relationship with Him is what we must have to overcome and conquer what satan throws at us. Second is to allow Christ to renew our minds so that we have a Kingdom mentality instead of an earthly one. We must learn to think like Jesus!! To know His Word and apply it to every area of our lives!! Third, we must realize that we have an enemy because of Who we belong to, and he wants to destroy us because we bear the image of our Father!!
Then and only then will we be able to rejoice and praise our Lord no matter what!
Jesus never said it would be easy, but He did say He would be with us. Our Lord wants us to succeed!! He wants us to learn to be overcomers!! And yes, He wants a personal relationship with those who are His people!! Do you belong to Him?? Is Jesus your Lord?? Do you trust Him even in the rough patches of life??
One day we shall all meet Him, one day we shall all give an account of how we lived out our faith here on this earth! One day every knee will bend, and every head will bow because Jesus Christ is Lord!!
Are we learning to be overcomers?? Do we praise our Mighty Lord in the storms?? Do we rejoice in our Lord and take joy in His salvation for us??
If we choose to live HIS way, He will raise us up to be more than we ever thought we would be, we will walk on the high places, we will be able to rise up with wings as an eagle and we will soar with Christ!! What a beautiful way to live...with Christ!
Blessings, Pastor Karen

Luke 12: 16-21 Jesus told them a parable, saying, " The land of a rich man produced plentifully, and he thought to himself, what shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops? And he said, I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones and there I will store all my grains and my goods. I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink and be merry. But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul is required of you and the things you have prepared, whose will they be? So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich towards God.

So, how is your soul?? Your mind, your will and your emotions? How is your relationship with the Lord?? What are you thinking on the most, your earthly life or your spiritual life?? What is more important to you??
In this parable, Jesus couldn't have been any clearer on how worthless all our treasures on this earth are. We can have all that money can buy and lose our soul to Hell. Yes, we can spend eternity in Hell because all we were concerned about while we were here was our own comfort, our own prestige, how we looked to others...eating, drinking and being merry...how wonderful to be rich!!
In the world today we are beginning to see an even greater divide between the rich and the poor...between the believers and the non-believers, between those who worship the things of this world and those who worship the risen Lord, Jesus the Christ!!
What choices have we made? Where are our treasures? Who are we trying to impress? These are questions we must ask ourselves every day, who are we serving? In Joshua 24 the Lord tells us to choose this day whom we will serve! Every decision we make we must first ask ourselves to whom will the glory go to...me or the Lord?
We can work hard, we can sacrifice to make an almighty dollar, we can reach the top of the corporate ladder, we can spend as much as we make on ourselves and our comforts and in the end, when we meet Christ, we will give an account of what we have done with all of that. Who did we see hungry, who did we see that needed clothing and shelter, what did we give to build up the church in supporting missionaries, children's ministries, elderly care, anyone who had needs?
This rich man actually tore down his barns to build bigger ones because he had so much...what he could have done with all that excess to further the Kingdom of God!!
Matthew 6:19-21 tells us not to lay up for ourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Yes church, we never know when our soul will be required of us...we never know when we will meet Jesus. Wouldn't it be better to have Him call you beloved than fool? Wouldn't it be better to have Him welcome us in than to say I never knew you?
This choice set before us is a daily choice...who are we serving? I pray the choice is Jesus, the Holy One, the Beloved Son of the Most High God.
Blessings, Pastor Karen

Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever and His faithfulness to all generations.

Does this verse ring true to you?? Do you believe that God is good to you, even when things do not seem to be going your way?? In those times of testing and trials do we still believe He is good?? That His steadfast love endures forever and all through our lives He is faithful even to all generations before and after us??
We must remember our Lord is not a genie in a bottle, He is KING!! He has plans and purposes for us but He also gave us a free will! We get to choose whose plan we will follow, His, satans or our own!  Whose plan are you following?
One of the biggest issues in the church today is that we often do not believe that God is always good. We gage His goodness and mercy by what we see happening in our lives and in the world. Our Lord never changes, He is the same yesterday. today and forever! He has the same faithfulness to ALL generations! He has given from the beginning of time a choice for us to make but He has always remained the same.
How would you describe your Lord??  Faithful, true, merciful, gracious, powerful, full of wisdom, friend, real?? I think in our descriptions of Him our faith is revealed!! If we describe Him as aloof, mysterious, uncaring, distant, angry or anything else that is contrary to His true nature as far as what the Bible describes Him to be we will never believe that He is good.
2 Timothy 2:13 tells us that God always does what He says, and He always keeps the promises He has made in His Word. Not only will He not deny Himself, but He also cannot deny Himself. If we are faithless, He remains faithful. He cannot deny Himself!!
In other Words, what God says "IS!"  What He has spoken He will not go against...it will not change. His promises are steadfast and true, and we can stand on His Word as our solid rock. God is not a man that He should lie. We cannot compare God to man. We cannot compare Him to ourselves. There is no comparison. look to Jesus for the character of God! Look to Jesus to see His goodness!! Look to Jesus to reveal the Father to us!!
Yes, God sent His Son, He called Him Jesus. He bled and died to buy our pardon. Only until we see our Father through the eyes of Jesus will we be able to recognize His wonderful and amazing goodness.
Church, let us live with the knowledge of Gods eternal love for us...let us live telling others of His goodness. Let our description of our risen Lord draw others unto Him. Today let us think about who God is to us, and who do we say He is??
Blessings, Pastor Karen

James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.

The meaning of humility...it is the honest recognition of our own worth--our worth as God sees us. It is the delicate balance between humbly recognizing our sin yet knowing how much God loves and values us.
Humility, a virtue we do not see often in this world. A virtue that is even hard to find in the church. When satan fell from heaven in Isaiah 14:12, one of the issues he had was that he wanted to be like God, he wanted to be in power, he wanted the praise that only our Lord deserves!! It is so easy to fall into the sin of pride, selfishness, and arrogance. We seem to think that when we are blessed, we have some special place, that we should be able to do what we want and that we hold favor with God.
All through the Word Jesus was looking for the least, the last and the lost...He was after those who knew they needed a Savior. Do we KNOW we need a Savior? Do we understand that we are but dust?? Do we understand who we are??
To walk in humility is one of the greatest gifts we can walk in, it keeps us right where our precious Lord wants us. He can mold and make us into what He intended for us to look like.
Most of the time we do not look at ourselves, we look at others and their faults and we forget to realize that if we truly believe in what the Word of God says, we look in the mirror first.
Spiritual humility is reliant upon the God who is "bigger" than us. We trust His ways and not our own knowing without Him we are nothing.
When pride rises up within us, it will only cause destruction, it will only cause hurt and pain. That is a guarantee. Proverbs 16: 18-20 tells us that pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Dear brothers and sisters, we must guard against this spirit. Sad to say instead of the church infiltrating the world the world has infiltrated the church.
It also says in Proverbs that it is better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handles a matter wisely shall find good; and those who trust in the Lord, happy are they.
Peace, joy, contentment, all these come to us when we walk humbly with our Lord. When we understand who we are and WHO GOD IS!! When we allow the Lord to lift us up, there is no room for selfish ambition, no room for arguments and quarrels, no chance for satan to whisper in our ears that we should be the one who is in control, that we are the one in leadership, that we can tell others what to do.
We must be gentle with one another, giving glory to a Mighty God in all we do!! How will we look different than the world?? It will be in the manner of our living, in the way we treat each other, in the way we love each other, laying down our own agenda and picking up our Fathers.
My prayer for the church is that we can see what God’s enemy, therefore our enemy, tries to do to us...he will steal from us, kill us and destroy us if we listen to his voice. That is his goal.
Let us rise above the chaos, the pride and the lies of satan and ONLY LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF OUR GOOD SHEPHERD...THIS IS THE ONLY WAY WE WILL HAVE LIFE AND HAVE IT ABUNDANTLY IN THE CHURCH AND IN OUR LIVES!
Blessings, Pastor Karen

2 Chronicles 7:14
If My people who are called by My Name, humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Oh, how this scripture has been used for this nation in the past few years. Yes, we want forgiveness! Yes, we want healing! Yes, we want it all!! But humble ourselves?? Pray?? Seek?? Turn from our wicked ways?? That's a little too much to ask, don't you think?? After all we are only human! You know Lord that we are prone to sin! Couldn't You just skip that part and forgive and heal us anyway??
It's so easy to quote scriptures like this one, acting as though it's the nation and not us that needs to be cleaned up! This scripture was written to the Israelites, His people. He was telling them when judgement comes on the world if they humble themselves, pray and seek His face they will be saved from what is coming. If they turn from their wicked and evil ways that He will hear them!!
Have you ever felt as though God does not hear your prayers?? That they hit the ceiling and bounce back?? Then I want you to think about what is going on in your life...where has sin entered in?? Where have you allowed wickedness to enter your thoughts and actions?? You cannot live in both kingdoms!! Yes, satan has a kingdom and our Lord has a kingdom and there is a battle going on for YOU!!
This scripture is giving us the key to success in the kingdom of our Lord! Humility! There is a huge lack of humility in today's church. We all want power and control; we all want to be in charge! We want our own way and if we do not get what we want we cause division and death to the church!!
Prayer, one of the most powerful tools in our toolbelt!! How often do we come together to pray!! How often do we take the time out of our busy schedule and pray to a God who can change every situation in our lives??
Seek! How many of us are truly seeking what God wants for us, what He wants for our families and what He wants for His church?? Do we even bother to seek His face?? Do we really what to know what God thinks, do we really even care??
Turn from our wicked ways?? Repent!! Turn!! Go the other way!! Really??? That is a hard word to hear! It is even harder to do!! We have to WANT TO CHANGE!! Many of us do not want to change, we are happy doing what we want to do! But then we wonder WHY GOD DOES NOT HEAR OUR PRAYERS...WHY HE DOES NOT ANSWER!!
Church!! It's way past time to WAKE UP!!  This message is to God's people!! Not to the world!! It is for His church!! The church is a mess right now and our gracious Lord is waiting for us to get it together...to stop the jealousy and hatred from destroying His church!! To stop the pride and arrogance of wanting to be in charge!! To stop devouring each other with our words!!  TO HUMBLE OURSELVES, PRAY, SEEK, TURN FROM OUR WICKED WAYS! To put our eyes on our MIGHTY GOD!!  Pride, arrogance, jealousy, strife, hatred, all these are against God. All these are distractions used by satan to keep us powerless!!
Our Lord's promise is if we walk in humility, if we pray and seek Him, if we turn from evil, HE WILL HEAR US!! He will answer our prayers!! He will forgive us and His church. He will heal us and our land.
Yes, church, this is the key...this is the way in which we are to walk. Are we ready to walk in Christ’s way laying aside our own way?? There is only one way to be God's people...today I set before you life and death...choose life!!             Blessings, Pastor Karen

Matthew 6:34   Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Anxiousness, fear, hopelessness, despair, depression...these words can kill our spirit. When we start sliding down this slippery slope, this is when we need to cry out to God!! Satan will cause us to keep looking at our circumstances, he will keep us distracted, living in chaos!! How many of us are living in chaos?? How many of us are so deep in the pit of anxiety that it has become our normal way of living??
This is when we MUST look to the hills from whence comes our help...OUR HELP COMES FROM THE LORD, THE MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH!! Chaos is NOT NORMAL!!
Jesus promises us PEACE!! A peace that the world cannot give!! A peace that will pass all of our understanding. When things get out of control, when life is dull and lifeless, when the enemy comes in like a flood, God has risen up a standard against him, JESUS!!
Jesus!! He gives us one day at a time!! He supplies our every need!! And when we chose to live in chaos and confusion, we have chosen death and not the life He has promised to us!!
John10:10 tells us that satan comes to steal, kill and destroy BUT JESUS CAME TO BRING LIFE AND LIFE ABUNDANT!! We are not to be anxious about anything!! If we believe what the Word of God says, then we are free from anxiousness, fear, hopelessness, despair and depression!!  But if we continue to live in these things, it is SIN!!  We sin against a Risen Lord and all He has done for us, dying on a cross a horrible death to set us free from the lies that we have been held captive to.
Yes, Jesus came to set the captive FREE!! That is us!! We are free to live life full of the JOY OF THE LORD WHO IS OUR STRENGTH!!
I pray today that all of us look to Jesus...examine ourselves, look around at what we are living in and cry out to the One, the only One who can set you free from the chaos and the darkness!! Come out into the light dear church!!  LIVE!! SERVE!! REJOICE!! DO NOT BE ANXIOUS!!
For we serve a Mighty God!! His Son Jesus has paid the price...we are redeemed!!
WE ARE FREE!!

Psalm 1    Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in season, and it's leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. the wicked are not so but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefor the wicked will not stand in the judgement nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

As we watch the events unfold in this nation, we are seeing God's hand move in powerful ways. Ways we may have never seen before!
As the true church rises up and cries out to God, we will see the evil perish! As the true church begins to meditate on God's word day and night, we will see the miracles we have been praying for!!
We, the church, are to be like trees planted beside streams of water...LIVING WATER...JESUS THE CHRIST!! We will not wither; we will not crumble when adversity hits because we know we have a Lord above all lords!! A King above all kings!! Yes!! We will bear fruit in each season of our lives, and we will see the manifestation of it while we are yet living!!
The wicked will not stand, the wicked will be blown away like chaff and they WILL PERISH!!
Our purpose, our job as believers is to keep focused, fired up and free from sin!! We are to know God's word and use it to stand against the enemy!! We are to take the Word of God and use it as a sword to cut off the evil plans and schemes of satan.
Today, let us remember that our Lord is in control, that all that is going on is part of His plan to redeem us, to save us and to set us free!!
Jesus says, " Come follow Me for I will make you fishers of men!"  Now is the time to go fishing!! The harvest is ready for the harvester!! Let us be the workers. Let us tell others about Jesus and pray that many find Jesus before it is too late!!
Yes church!! These are the days of much upheaval, much evil and despair but most of all these are the days of GREAT HOPE!! For we have a Savior Christ Jesus and He is on the move!!
Blessings, Pastor Karen
