1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep. but we shall be changed., in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed!
What we have seen in this last week has been a truly unbelievable sight. We have seen devastation beyond our imagination. Think about how "suddenly" lives were changed, lives were lost never to be the same again.
When Paul tells the church in Corinth this mystery that all shall not sleep but that they will be changed...what could he possibly mean? I believe he is alerting God's people that one day in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet everything will change!!
For so many in North Carolina, Tennessee and all the areas around them life changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. Life as they knew it was gone! My heart grieves and aches for them and I pray for them to find help and relief. It reminds me that one day our Lord will come!
The trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we all shall be changed!! And we will be with Lord!
Are we ready?? Every day we need to prepare ourselves to meet the Lord, because one of these days we will!
Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:58 " Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain!"
Here is the advice that Paul gives to the church...this is how we prepare, this is how we stay alert and ready to meet Jesus!! So, church as we watch the terrible destruction of a place where flooding like this seemed inconceivable, think on these things. We never know when test, trials, and change will come. We must remember our hope is in Christ Jesus and His righteousness! Our hope is in His promises and His protection. Our hope is trusting in Him through it all. For the trumpet will sound one day, maybe sooner than we think, maybe later than we think, BUT IT WILL SOUND!!
And in the twinkling of an eye life as we know it will end and life eternal will begin. Life with Christ or life burning in the fires of Hell forever!!
Are we ready??? I pray church that we are and that we remain steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of our Lord!! And the promise is our labor will never be in vain!!
Behold! I tell you a mystery!

Psalm 23: 1-3 The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters, He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His Names's sake.
Have you ever grown weary?? Has life sometimes overwhelmed you with responsibilities and all that comes with those responsibilities? They may be wonderful things in your life but as human beings we only have so much strength within ourselves. That is when we cry out to God in a different way than when we have gotten a bad report, the loss of a loved one or something catastrophic has happened in our lives. This cry is different because we need strength to do what the Lord has given us to do. We need the strength to run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint!
In those times that is when we turn to Psalm 23...I know we use this scripture a lot in funeral services, but I believe it should also be used for LIFE!! To proclaim that the Lord is our shepherd and that we shall not want should be the confession out of our mouths every morning!! If we believe He is a GOOD SHEPHERD... then as we speak life begins to happen in our spirits as we connect to our Lord's Holy Spirit...and we will come to know that every day we shall not want for anything, that our Lord supplies all that we need.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures...our Lord calls us to rest! Yes, He knows that we are only made of dust, that there is only so much we can do in these earthly bodies and that rest in Him is what we need.
He leads us beside the still waters, and He restores my soul! What an amazing promise! He wants to lead us beside the waters of stillness and life so that He can restore our souls...our minds, our will and our emotions...yes, this is key to living our lives for Christ that He restores our souls.
Then He leads us in paths of righteousness for His Name's sake. As He leads us we realize that we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us!
Our Lord has provided for us everything we need, in the bad times and in the good times. Always remember to rest in the Lord for our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion waiting for those he can devour maybe even more in the good times. When we are overwhelmed, when we are tired, when our minds get foggy that is when satan strikes and that is when we need our Lord even more!!
We must learn to always be on our guard, keeping our mind and our thoughts on Jesus...for He a GOOD GOOD FATHER and He has all things in the palm of His Mighty Hands.
Dear church, Give thanks with a grateful heart today, let our Wise and Merciful God lead You where you need to go and no matter if we are in bad times or good times, remember that He will be with us supplying us with whatever is needed for the day.

Psalm 62: 1-2 For God alone my soul waits in silence; from Him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress: I shall not be greatly shaken.
Today one of our dear brothers in Christ has passed from this life to the next. Brother Ken was one of the most kind and endearing men I have ever met. He always had a smile and an encouraging word for all those who crossed his path. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother to name a few roles he had in life. He treated others with respect even if they did not deserve it sometimes. He was a special person, and I will miss him very much.
It's times like these that remind us of eternity, that remind us of how very short our days are on this earth, that remind us to stop and think about how we are living our lives.
For God alone my soul waits in silence...Do we wait in the silence to hear God's voice, do we listen for Him to tell us the mysteries of the universe?? Do we wait for Him to tell us how much He loves us, how much He cares for our souls?? Do we wait for Him to comfort us, to bring us peace in the midst of the storm?? Is there so much noise around us that we cannot hear him?
Ken loved the outdoors, the quiet, the stillness...I am sure he heard God's voice many times in the sereneness of those moments.
Ken knew that only from the Lord came His salvation, that He was his Rock and that only through Jesus the Christ that eternal life was made possible. The Lord was Kens fortress, the Lord was his protector, his rear guard, the One Who made the Way for him and in knowing that... Ken was never greatly shaken...no Ken was not shaken easily, he never wavered from his faith, he never wavered in what he knew about Jesus, he never wavered in the way he lived his life. Through all of the tests and the trials Ken had his best friend Ann Marie beside him, looking after him, encouraging him, loving him. What a witness to the great love of our Father these two have been.
So today as we learn to live without Ken, as we grieve at his passing, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. Our hope is in the Lord!! He is our rock and salvation!! The One and only TRUE and MIGHTY GOD!! It is to Him we turn today for our comfort; it is to Him we turn to for our peace in this storm, it is to Him that we turn to heal up our broken hearts.
Psalm 121 I look to the hills from whence cometh my help; my help comes from the Lord, the MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH.
Yes, we will miss our dear brother, but because Jesus was his Lord and Jesus is our Lord we will meet again, where there is no more crying, no more sorrow and no more pain, where we will live in the pure light of Christ our Lord!

Matthew 7:15 Watch out for false prophets. they come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
In the day and age we live in there are many who call good evil and evil good. Many are deceived by those who sound good, look good and portray themselves as someone who cares about you. Why is it that we think those who are power hungry, full of greed and self-interests would be concerned about us??
Psalm 55:21 says, " His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.
When you look at the world situation today, it is very hard to tell who is telling the Truth! The lies come so naturally to those who are hungry for personal gain.
Beware church of the false prophets who only want your praise and your worship, who only want your money and your time. Who are living well above the lifestyle of Christ! Jesus says in Matthew 8:20 that the foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.
The Word of God tells us many times to beware of false teachers, false prophets and to keep our eyes on Jesus, to keep our ears tuned into our Lord's voice.
Be ready church for what is approaching fast...where it will be very difficult to know what the Truth is... remember only Jesus is the Truth! He is the only Way we will survive! He is the only Way to life and life abundant!!
When you see these false prophets rise up, when you see the government start to tell you they know better than you do on how to live your life, when you start to see evil looked at as good and good as evil.... Look to the hills from where your help comes from! Our help comes from the Lord the Maker of heaven and earth...Yes church!! Keep your eyes on Him...for only through Jesus can we be more than conquerors, only through Jesus can we overcome the darkness! Only through Jesus can we truly see the Truth and not be deceived!!
Keep in the Word of God, know what it says! Learn how to walk in the paths of righteousness! Stand strong in the face of adversity, for when the days get darker, we will shine brighter when we have the light of Christ living in us!
Get ready to shine church!! For the days grow ever darker!! Arise and shine for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! (Isaiah 60:1.)

1 Peter 1: 24-25 For all flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower falls, but the Word of the Lord remains forever.
Life, a life well lived, a life that left a mark wherever that life was lived, a life that never wasted a moment of any day. To live a life like this should be our goal, should be what we strive for, should be what we wake up in the morning thinking how do we make this day count?? How do we make it count for our families, for our church for our world, FOR OUR GOD!!
Darlah was one who lived a life like this. Her life left a huge hole in the lives of all who knew her.
Scripture tells us that we are like the grass, we wither and die but the Word of God remains forever!! These bodies of flesh begin to die the moment we are born...yes, the journey begins! But when we have the word of God in us, when we have Christ living in us, we will remain with our Lord forever!! Death has lost its sting because we are protected by a Mighty God!!
For Darlah the life that she lived here is over and her new life has begun, where there is no more pain, no more mourning, no more crying just incredible peace unlike anything she has ever known.
I am thankful to have known her, I am thankful she spent these years growing and learning about Jesus...where He had become more and more real to her.
Psalm 116:15 says, " Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants." " Precious" is a word that describes Darlah perfectly. She was precious to all who knew her, and I know that she was even more precious to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
1 John 5:4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world----OUR FAITH. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God!!
When we are born of God, when we are born again...we overcome the world and its ways by our faith in the One Who Made Us!! Darlah through her faith overcame the world, sin and death because of the One she believed in, the One she trusted and the One she loved...Yes! Her King Jesus!!
WHO IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE!!
As the angels rejoiced in heaven at her coming...we will grieve as she leaves but we do not grieve as those who have no hope for our HOPE IS IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD!! AMEN AND AMEN!

Psalm 1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in season, and it's leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. the wicked are not so but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefor the wicked will not stand in the judgement nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
As we watch the events unfold in this nation, we are seeing God's hand move in powerful ways. Ways we may have never seen before!
As the true church rises up and cries out to God, we will see the evil perish! As the true church begins to meditate on God's word day and night, we will see the miracles we have been praying for!!
We, the church, are to be like trees planted beside streams of water...LIVING WATER...JESUS THE CHRIST!! We will not wither; we will not crumble when adversity hits because we know we have a Lord above all lords!! A King above all kings!! Yes!! We will bear fruit in each season of our lives, and we will see the manifestation of it while we are yet living!!
The wicked will not stand, the wicked will be blown away like chaff and they WILL PERISH!!
Our purpose, our job as believers is to keep focused, fired up and free from sin!! We are to know God's word and use it to stand against the enemy!! We are to take the Word of God and use it as a sword to cut off the evil plans and schemes of satan.
Today, let us remember that our Lord is in control, that all that is going on is part of His plan to redeem us, to save us and to set us free!!
Jesus says, " Come follow Me for I will make you fishers of men!" Now is the time to go fishing!! The harvest is ready for the harvester!! Let us be the workers. Let us tell others about Jesus and pray that many find Jesus before it is too late!!
Yes church!! These are the days of much upheaval, much evil and despair but most of all these are the days of GREAT HOPE!! For we have a Savior Christ Jesus and He is on the move!!

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Submit, Resist, Draw, all of these are action words. Why is it that James puts all of these together in the same scripture!! That is a lot to do all at one time!!
This is something the church has a hard time doing...we do not like submitting our will to God. Most of us do not like to be told what to do by anyone, especially a God that we cannot see, feel or touch!! Especially a God that we are not quite sure we believe in!!
So, if we do not want to submit to God our lives, our thoughts, our actions then how will we Resist the Devil?? How will we know what is right or wrong in the sight of a Mighty God?? Sin will then become okay. Lying, cheating, rebellion, murder, sexual sin will become our normal way of living.
The only way to resist the devil is to submit all that you are to God!! Everything!! The good the bad and the ugly, EVERYTHING!!
Once we submit and resist...the devil will flee from us!! The devil cannot stand against GOD!! He cannot stand against the submitting of your life to God!! He loses his power over you because you have given up your old and selfish ways!!
Then once the old devil is gone...then we can draw near to God and guess what??? God will draw near to us!! Yes! The sin that Jesus Christ paid with His life to free us from is gone!! We have the right because of Jesus to SUBMIT OURSELVES TO GOD...RESIST THE DEVIL...AND DRAW NEAR TO GOD!
Then the barrier of sin is demolished!! We can begin having a relationship with our Father in Heaven! Revelation 21:7 says, The one who conquers will have this heritage and I will be their God and they will be My people!!
To conquer the devil, death and sin we must learn the strategies of war...Submit, Resist and Draw near...this is how we become more than conquerors through Christ Jesus our Lord!!
Dear church, submit yourselves to God, learn to resist the tactics of the evil one and then draw near to a Risen and Mighty Lord and get ready for Him to draw near to you!! This is the promise of LIFE AND LIFE ABUNDANT in John 10:10. IT TRULY IS THE ONLY WAY TO LIVE!!!

Mark 4:35-40 On that day, when evening had come, Jesus said to them, " Let us go across to the other side." And leaving the crowd, they took Him with them to the boat, just as He was. And other boats were with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling but Jesus was in the stern on the cushion, and they woke Him and said to Him, " Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing??" And Jesus awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, PEACE BE STILL! And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith??" And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, " who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"
Sometimes the storms of life rage, sometimes it seems the wind and the waves will surely overtake us!! Our boat is taking on water and we truly believe we will not survive!! That is exactly what the devil wants us to think!! As you see what happened in this story most of the time the storms come up suddenly!! When we just want to get a little rest, when we have plans to go and do something we want to do! Storms can blindside us, take us by surprise and often times we panic and forget Who we serve and Who we belong to!!
It is so interesting that Jesus was actually sleeping while the water was coming into the boat!! It must have been some storm!! He was the calm in the storm!! The picture Mark gives us is a reminder that even when the storms rage in our lives that all the while Jesus is in the boat with us...He is the One Who calms the storms within us and gives us peace!!
I would encourage everyone today who is going through a storm to look to Jesus. He is the only way we can live without fear when they come. Tests and trials will come, but Jesus says He will never leave us nor forsake us!
Jesus asked His disciples why they were so afraid. I believe that they still did not truly understand who Jesus was. They had followed Jesus, listened to His teaching, saw His mighty miracles but still did not have faith in Who He was!!
Jesus was teaching them; He was showing them WHO HE WAS!! That even the winds and the waves obey Him!!
Remember this valuable truth church!! JESUS IS LORD OF ALL!! HE IS THE KING OF ALL KINGS especially in your storms!! He is the "PEACE BE STILL" in our lives and He will guard and keep us all of our days!!
When storms come, look to the One who calms the storms...He will never let you down!! Trust His grace, trust His power and trust His love in all circumstances of our lives. Then and only then can we live without fear of what will come...and our faith will flourish in the knowledge of our RISEN Lord!!
Peace Be Still!! Pastor Karen

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.
As I watch my little grandchildren play and laugh and giggle and as I watch them learn and grow, my heart feels full within me. I know that the innocence they have right now will not last very long and I pray for their protection every day.
Children have their own way of speaking, thinking and reasoning. They are not aware of their surroundings; they do not have a concept of danger yet and they do not have much discernment of right and wrong. How do they learn these things??
Children watch us! That is how they learn how to speak like an adult, that is how they learn how think more maturely and that is how they learn to reason things out...to discern what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is evil.
If the adults they are around never grow up, never mature...there is a good chance they will not either.
There is a great responsibility that comes with raising children and one of those responsibilities is to get them ready for adulthood, physically and emotionally. One of the problems we have today is that many parents of children still act like children themselves. We have moms that still want to look and act like teenagers, we have dads that still want to go out with their drinking buddies while the wife and kids are at home. We have many parents who never tell their children about Jesus, never take them to church, never give them the foundation that will hold them in this crazy mixed-up world!
I believe there will be a great accountability to the Lord for how we raise our children...they are gifts we have been given and it is serious business when we neglect to give them the spiritual teaching they so desperately need.
How about your household?? How about your children?? Are you teaching them about a risen Lord who came to set them free?? Who came to give them eternal life with Him if only they believe?? Do you teach them that a personal relationship with Jesus is the most precious thing you could ever give them??
Until we grow up in the church, until we lay aside childish things in the church, until we learn to speak, live and love like Christ in the church, it will be very hard to teach our children. They learn from us...they mimic us...they watch every move we make, and they hear every word we say!!
This is a wakeup call to parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles...give up your childish ways and GROW UP IN CHRIST!! Teach your children the ways of Christ!! Live Christ before them!! Speak with the love and authority of Christ so they can grow up prepared for the battles in their lives!!
Jesus the Christ will be coming soon, are you ready?? Are your children ready?? I pray so...

Proverbs 4: 25-27 Let your eyes look directly forward and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil!
How many times have we taken our eyes off of Jesus?? How many times have we swerved off the path that He has laid out for us. How many times have we turned our foot towards evil and not away from evil??
Remember Peter in the boat? He and the disciples had gone on ahead of Jesus. Jesus told them He would catch up with them and boy did He ever!! Here comes Jesus walking on the water! At first, they screamed in fear until they recognized Him and then guess what?? Peter jumps out of the boat and starts walking towards Jesus on the water!! How amazing!! Just keep going Peter!! Just keep Your eyes on the One who can save you from the wind and the waves...just keep walking!!
One glance at the waves, one doubt and Peter began to sink!! How important is it to keep our eyes on Jesus??? How important is it to only look to Him for our help?? As Peter began to sink...our marvelous, wonderful Savior reached out His Almighty hand and grabbed hold of Peter and walked with him back to the boat.
Our Lord, our Jesus, warns us to not look to the right or the left, but to keep our eyes on Him, because He knows what happens when we look around at all the turmoil, all the chaos, all the tests and trials that come our way! He knows we will start to sink! He knows we will become discouraged; we will become depressed which leads to despair and then satan will move in and try to destroy us!
This path of righteousness that our Lord wants us to stay on is imperative if we want to live life and life abundantly! We must think about each and every step we take...we must ponder each step and ask ourselves is this for good or is this for evil?? We must ask ourselves how will this affect our life and the lives of everyone around me and how will this affect my testimony to others??
Ther is an old hymn that says "Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.
Dear believers in the Almighty risen Lord, keep your eyes on Jesus!! It is the only way we will live a victorious life!! A life that glows with the love, the peace and the joy of Christ!! Then and only then will we be more than conquerors, then and only then will we walk with sure footing in this crazy mixed up and evil world, then and only then will people see the difference that Jesus the Christ can make in their lives!
Keep walking church...keep your eyes on the One who can teach us how to walk on water!!

Habakkuk 3:17-19 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor the fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls...yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; He makes my feet like the deer's; He makes me tread on high places.
How many of us love and serve God when the times are good?? It is so easy then! But what about when the times get hard?? What about the times when prayers are not answered the way we want them to be, what about the times when we lose what we have worked so hard for, what about the times we cannot seem to hear God's voice??
The prophet Habakkuk did not love and serve God for what He could give him. He loved and served God because he had a personal relationship with Him. He knew Him and that made all the difference. Even when everything seemed to be going wrong Habakkuk rejoiced in the Lord, he gave Him honor and praise just because He was God!!
Jesus tells us there will be tests and trials, there will be days when we feel hopeless and afraid but if we cling to Him, we will come through and we will learn to overcome!!
One of the first things we must do is to seek with our whole heart Christ and His Kingdom, a personal and deep relationship with Him is what we must have to overcome and conquer what satan throws at us. Second is to allow Christ to renew our minds so that we have a Kingdom mentality instead of an earthly one. We must learn to think like Jesus!! To know His Word and apply it to every area of our lives!! Third, we must realize that we have an enemy because of Who we belong to, and he wants to destroy us because we bear the image of our Father!!
Then and only then will we be able to rejoice and praise our Lord no matter what!
Jesus never said it would be easy, but He did say He would be with us. Our Lord wants us to succeed!! He wants us to learn to be overcomers!! And yes, He wants a personal relationship with those who are His people!! Do you belong to Him?? Is Jesus your Lord?? Do you trust Him even in the rough patches of life??
One day we shall all meet Him, one day we shall all give an account of how we lived out our faith here on this earth! One day every knee will bend, and every head will bow because Jesus Christ is Lord!!
Are we learning to be overcomers?? Do we praise our Mighty Lord in the storms?? Do we rejoice in our Lord and take joy in His salvation for us??
If we choose to live HIS way, He will raise us up to be more than we ever thought we would be, we will walk on the high places, we will be able to rise up with wings as an eagle and we will soar with Christ!! What a beautiful way to live...with Christ!

Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever and His faithfulness to all generations.
Does this verse ring true to you?? Do you believe that God is good to you, even when things do not seem to be going your way?? In those times of testing and trials do we still believe He is good?? That His steadfast love endures forever and all through our lives He is faithful even to all generations before and after us??
We must remember our Lord is not a genie in a bottle, He is KING!! He has plans and purposes for us but He also gave us a free will! We get to choose whose plan we will follow, His, satans or our own! Whose plan are you following?
One of the biggest issues in the church today is that we often do not believe that God is always good. We gage His goodness and mercy by what we see happening in our lives and in the world. Our Lord never changes, He is the same yesterday. today and forever! He has the same faithfulness to ALL generations! He has given from the beginning of time a choice for us to make but He has always remained the same.
How would you describe your Lord?? Faithful, true, merciful, gracious, powerful, full of wisdom, friend, real?? I think in our descriptions of Him our faith is revealed!! If we describe Him as aloof, mysterious, uncaring, distant, angry or anything else that is contrary to His true nature as far as what the Bible describes Him to be we will never believe that He is good.
2 Timothy 2:13 tells us that God always does what He says, and He always keeps the promises He has made in His Word. Not only will He not deny Himself, but He also cannot deny Himself. If we are faithless, He remains faithful. He cannot deny Himself!!
In other Words, what God says "IS!" What He has spoken He will not go against...it will not change. His promises are steadfast and true, and we can stand on His Word as our solid rock. God is not a man that He should lie. We cannot compare God to man. We cannot compare Him to ourselves. There is no comparison. look to Jesus for the character of God! Look to Jesus to see His goodness!! Look to Jesus to reveal the Father to us!!
Yes, God sent His Son, He called Him Jesus. He bled and died to buy our pardon. Only until we see our Father through the eyes of Jesus will we be able to recognize His wonderful and amazing goodness.
Church, let us live with the knowledge of Gods eternal love for us...let us live telling others of His goodness. Let our description of our risen Lord draw others unto Him. Today let us think about who God is to us, and who do we say He is??
Blessings, Pastor Karen
